Regan J. Archibald, LAc, Dipl OM
While studying pre-medicine & behavior science at the University of Utah, Regan was unsure of the techniques of modern western medicine, and thought that there must be a better way for patients to reach their full potential and well-being. He first learned of the benefits of Chinese medicine while taking a History of Medicine course. After much research he went to see the medicine in action and began studying with acupuncturist Tao Tan in Sandy, Utah. After seeing the incredible benefits of traditional Chinese medicine and studying with Tao Tan, Regan decided to invest his time in learning eastern medicine.
Regan attended the Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii and in 2004 earned his Masters of Science in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. He also spent three years apprenticing with world renowned acupuncturist and founder of the Traditional Japanese Acupuncture Association, Dr. Chieko Maekawa PhD, DAc. In 2004 he also became the first person in the United States to be certified in Seitai Shinpo, which focuses on structural techniques of acupuncture. Currently Regan is one of only 23 individuals to have this certification. He is also a speaker for David Singer Enterprises and coaches acupuncturists on how to build successful practices.
Regan is one of the founders of the Seitai Shinpo Acupucture Foundation. He is also affiliated with the Foundation for Wellness professionals where he voluntarily holds lectures and seminars in order to educate the community on health and well-being. In his approach to healthcare, he focuses on restoring harmony to the body and helping patients heal themselves.
Regan spends his free time with his daughter Zoe and his son Jonah who love joining him in the outdoors snowboarding, hiking and mountain biking. He also enjoys yoga and capoeira, and helping people reach their full potential and well-being.
Spencer Ames, MS, LAc, Dipl OM
Spencer earned a Masters of Science degree in Oriental Medicine from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2009, and received his B.A. in Integral Psychology with a minor in Ethnobotany from Prescott College. Much of his undergraduate studies of ethnobotany took place in Belize, Mexico, Guatemala, and the United States. In Central America he worked to set up an ethnobotanical and cultural studies program to connect undergraduate students with traditional healers in indigenous communities. Spencer has studied with teachers from a variety of indigenous and alternative medicine traditions, with a focus on mind-body therapy.
Spencer is an NCCAOM certifiedin acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and is licensed by the state of Colorado. He is certified in Clean Needle acupuncture technique, has been a proctor for the national Clean Needle exam, and is trained as a Certified Nurses Assistant.
He has further developed his practice of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine through continued studies and training with master teachers in Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion, Shonishin pediatric treatments, Dr. Shi Xue-Min’s Stroke Rehabilitation Protocol, treatment of pain and muscular skeletal disorders, acupuncture for trauma, and Auricular medicine.
Spencer is a nationally certified Chinese Herbalists in the USA with over 17 years of herbal medicine studies and training in Eastern, Western and other global herbal traditions. He has studied with traditional and indigenous medicine doctors from the Northwest and Southwest of the US, Belize, Mexico, India, Tibet, Tanzania, Japan and China. Spencer has a lifelong passion for the study and practice of natural and herbal medicine which he is continually exploring from both a traditional and modern scientific perspective.
Spencer was recently living with his wife in Phnom Penh, Cambodia where he had an acupuncture and Oriental Medicine practice. He was currently developing a program to assist traditional Cambodian medical practitioners to practice, preserve and promote their unique tradition.
Rebecca Conde, MS, LAc, Dipl Ac
Rebecca is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist in the state of Utah and certified by the NCCAOM. She is native to Salt Lake, but lived in the Seattle area for many years where she completed 10 years of higher education in various forms of holistic medicine. Planning to become a Naturopathic doctor, she completed her bachelor’s degree in whole-foods based nutrition because she felt it would create a strong foundation for the medicine. While studying the medical sciences she learned about acupuncture and decided to personally give it a try. She experienced such tremendous, effective results that she wanted to be able to provide that for other people. Ultimately, she switched paths and pursued her master’s degree in Chinese medicine and acupuncture at Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine. This small school is internationally renowned for its innovative approach to the teaching and practice of the medicine. Rebecca is grateful to have been mentored by such highly regarded teachers, including Craig Mitchell, Dan Benksky, Weiqun Miao M.D., Stephen Brown, Yun Wang M.D., Daniel Altschuler, and Liangxi Zheng M.D. Her training consisted of an extensive herbal medicine curriculum, both Chinese and Japanese style needling, Chinese language translation, tuina bodywork, qigong, and over 1200 hours of patient care.
Rebecca is passionate about working with patients one-on-one to assist them in achieving their health goals. She believes in the body’s inherent ability to heal itself when given the correct tools.
In her downtime, she enjoys riding her vintage beach cruiser, hiking, cooking, gardening, music, and independent films.
Justin Lane, DAc, LAc, Dipl OM
Justin first discovered Chinese Medicine when he was about 8 years old, while growing up in a natural medicine oriented family environment in Santa Cruz, CA, when it successfully treated his asthma and allergies. He became not only fascinated by the effectiveness of acupuncture, but equally intrigued and curious about the use of herbal medicines in the pharmacy of his acupuncturist until he finally decided, many years later, to pursue a career in traditional Chinese medicine. Justin has practiced complementary integrative medicine for over 12 years and is motivated by his larger purpose of helping as many people as possible achieve optimal health and wellbeing naturally. Dedicated to his field and keen to educate, motivate and inspire others, his number one goal is for his patients to achieve their healthcare goals.
Justin attended the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in New York and San Diego, earned a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine in 2009, and is licensed by the California, Rhode Island (D.Ac) and Utah State Acupuncture Boards, as well as nationally board certified (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM).
Prior to studying Chinese Medicine, Justin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Francisco State University in 1998, which included a one year study abroad program at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Amman, Jordan where he helped to establish the first ever recycling program that provided employment opportunities for underprivileged youth.
Justin has helped thousands of people overcome a variety of chronic health conditions and has worked in a variety of settings over the last ten years including hospitals, integrative medicine clinics and cruise ships. Justin utilizes multiple distal needling acupuncture techniques, herbal/nutritional medicine combined with best modern medical practices to discover and treat the root cause(s) of dis-ease, while also empowering people to make the critical lifestyle changes necessary to transform their health.
Justin spends his free time with his young twin daughters, Orly and Ananda, who love playing outdoors and going to the library. He also enjoys researching and learning new ways to help people reach optimal health. Justin also loves preparing and eating healthy meals with his wife, Joia.
Carmel Ferreira, ND, LAc
Dr. Carmel Ferreira is a Naturopathic Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist. Dr. Ferreira’s love for the sciences lead her to received her Bachelor’s of Science in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She worked as a Research Associate in Cardiology and Hematology Medical Research at various reputable institutions while preparing herself for medical school. Her desire to practice Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) never ceased to grow throughout this time. After searching for a medical school that would allow her to follow her passion she then found the specialty of naturopathic medicine and left her career in medical research after enrolling. In order to compliment her studies in conventional medicine and CAM she then sought to acquire a strong foundation in eastern medicine, leading her to also pursue an education in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Her search to become a holistic practitioner lead her to simultaneously attend naturopathic medical school at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM) and her Masters at the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture (PIHMA) in Arizona. With much dedication in attending two professional programs simultaneously, Dr. Ferreira was able to obtain her professional Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at SCNM and her Masters of Science in Acupuncture at PIHMA. After completion of her formal academic studies Dr. Ferreira completed her integrative medical residency through Bastyr University.
Dr. Ferreira has always felt the need to be involved with her community and for this reason has volunteered at various clinics and hospitals in California, Arizona and Utah since 1996. Her life long passion and dedication to the health care field has continued to drive her to work in the public’s eye as to inform of resources available as to empower individuals of their own health.
During her down time, Dr. Ferreira enjoys being outdoors; hiking, trail running, snowboarding and practicing the art of fire poi are a few of the activities she loves. Her greatest passion has been in the kitchen, creating nutritious dense foods that are packed with flavor. She is also enjoys practicing spiritual meditation and is an active member in her church and congregation where she also volunteers in various affiliated activities.
Cami Gillett, LAc
Cami Gillett, LAc., is a Utah licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She graduated with her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2012 from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minnesota, where she was born and raised. She is board certified in Acupuncture by the National Certification Committee of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Growing up, Cami suffered with chronic anxiety and sleep issues. However, her first experience with acupuncture was for sinus congestion! Her initial acupuncture treatments were so success that she continued care with more focus on chronic conditions. The amazing improvement she had in her own health motivated her to pursue a career in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Cami has a passion for helping others find their health. She has worked in a wide variety of settings from hospital trauma wards, assisted living, chiropractic offices, as well as multiple gyms.
She enjoys spending time outdoors, doing yoga, hiking and spending time with her family. She also loves food, and enjoys making healthy food taste great.
Ryan Killarney, LAc
Ryan holds a Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University with training in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and both Tuina & Shiatsu massage. He is licensed by the California State Acupuncture Board as well as nationally certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).
Ryan has also completed a 16-month post-graduate apprenticeship from Six Harmonies Traditional Medicine Center with a focus in Tuina massage. In the summer of 2009, Ryan spent 4 weeks at the Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine studying Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in the Pediatric, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Injury, and Tuina departments.
Ryan also enjoys playing guitar, telemark skiing, climbing, fly fishing, yoga and meditation.
Jared Taylor, DC
Jared Taylor, D.C. was born in St. George Utah. He was raised in a very health conscious family where natural medicine was a common practice. He had several personal experiences with alternative healing growing up which lead him into the field of alternative health. Dr Taylor graduated from Dixie University in 1999 and finished his Graduate School at Parker University in Dallas Texas in 2004. Dr. Taylor has also received advanced training in functional medicine and functional endocrinology. He has been practicing chiropractic for 11 years and acupuncture for 8 years. Dr Taylor is experienced in treating a variety of conditions and often uses chiropractic and acupuncture together to get the best results for his patients.
Dr. Taylor enjoys his family and has 5 children. His hobbies include spending time with his family, golfing and being outdoors. He is passionate about natural healing and believes the body has the ability to heal itself if you remove any interferences and give it the nutrition and appropriate life style changes.
John Lawrence, MD
Dr. John Lawrence is board certified in Family Practice Medicine and Urgent Care Medicine, with over 13 years of experience as a physician and medical director. He received his medical degree from the University of Utah and has expertise in providing joint and trigger point injections. In 2008, Dr. Lawrence was the expedition physician on a high altitude climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro with world paralympian champion Chris Waddell, and was responsible for the care of the expedition team, which included the treatment of tropical and infectious disease, trauma and altitude sickness.
Dr. Lawrence is looking forward to being part of the East West Health team at the new Park City clinic, set to open September 1, 2015.
Wade Oakden, MD
Dr. Wade Oakden is a Board Certified Family Physician. He received his medical degree from The American University of The Caribbean in 1998. He then completed his residency training at The University of North Dakota and graduated in 2001. He served as Chief Resident from 2000-2001 while training at The University of North Dakota. He was also awarded Resident of the Year award in 2000. Dr. Oakden has been practicing traditional Family Medicine for the last 15 years where he has practiced a broad scope of medicine including Emergency Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Obstetrics, Surgery, Trigger Point and Joint injections, Physical exams, and Sports Medicine. His passion is nutrition, exercise, weight management and disease modification using diet and life style changes.
Dr. Oakden has an amazing wife who has a passion for clean eating, and seven children that make his life interesting and exciting everyday! Holistic and Functional Medicine provides alternative options for good health and happiness, therefore Dr. Oakden is excited to be apart of The East West Health team.
Rose Clive, MSN-FNP
Rose is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Westminster College in 2008. After graduation she worked as a registered nurse in women’s health and in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. She graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner in May 2014. Rose is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau.
Rose always knew she wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner. After receiving care from a Functional Medicine doctor and having amazing results, Rose decided that she wanted to work in an area of medicine that focused on improving the overall health and wellbeing of patients and correcting underlying health problems. Rose is passionate about health and wellness and enhancing quality of life through diet changes and holistic care.
She loves exercising, cooking, reading, and traveling with her husband and son.
